We obtained the following results after the administration of kallikrein in 20 cases of hypertensive patients (17 cases of essential hypertension and 3 cases of renal hypertension). The dosage of kallikrein administration was 3~6 tablets(Each tablets contains 10 I.U. of pancreatic extracts) daily in 3 times divided dose and the duration of administration was 1~4 weeks (average 17. 9 days).
1. Comparing with pre-treatment level of blood pressure, 25.00mmHg mean decrement at systolic pressure and 13.75mmHg mean decrement at diastolic pressure were observed, and the decrement rate was 13.4%, 13.0% respectively.
2. After the administration of kallikrein, the rate of symptom improvement was 73%. The symptoms of hypertension were headache, dizziness, edema, chest tightness, asthenia, and tinnitus etc.
3. There were no significant alterations in laboratory results of blood cell count and blood chemistry including the hemoglobin, WBC count, BUN, creatinine and SGOT value, before and after the administration of kallikrein.
